Food Access & Health

The work that we are doing at La Mujer Obrera truly exemplifies both the challenges and hopes of increasing access to good, clean, and fair food by and for low-income communities of color, specifically Mexican women in the United States. In our organization, we are focused on our heritage and local history. We continuously provide education on sustainable food systems to our staff and volunteers.

Our food access and culturally based nutrition education models have received recognition including being named Agent of Change by the Christian Science Monitor and being featured as a model program in the PBS documentary, “Feeding Minds: Texas Takes on Hunger and Obesity.”
